Toby Porter, Chief Executive
Toby joined Hospice UK as its Chief Executive in September 2022. Prior to his appointment, he led Acorns Children’s Hospice as Chief Executive from 2016, guiding the West Midlands-based charity and its children’s hospice care service through the unprecedented challenges of the COVID 19 pandemic.
Toby brings to the role a wealth of senior leadership experience across a wide range of organisations in the charity sector.
Prior to joining the hospice sector, Toby was Chief Executive at HelpAge International, the secretariat to a global network of civil society organisations working with and for older people; in that position, he was invited to join the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Global Agenda Council on Population Ageing and invited to the WEF’s global meetings in Davos from 2014 to 2016 as a civil society representative.
His earlier career was largely dedicated to humanitarian aid, working for Save the Children and Oxfam, including leading the response to the Boxing Day Tsunami in 2004, and the conflicts in Kosovo and Rwanda.
Toby is a College Advisor and Mentor at Green Templeton College, Oxford University.
Catherine Bosworth, Director of Income Generation
Catherine oversees fundraising and commercial operations.
Catherine joined Hospice UK from Stonewall where she was Director of Fundraising and Major Partnerships. She has also held senior roles in the private sector including at MindShare, Westfield and Viacom.
Craig Duncan, Chief Operating Officer
Craig joined Hospice UK in 2009 as Director of Finance, and is our Chief Operating Officer.
He led on Hospice UK's work to introduce the VAT refund scheme for hospices in 2015, and more recently managed the £200 million emergency COVID-19 funding programme for hospices.
Craig was Hospice UK's Interim Chief Executive from December 2021 to September 2022.
Sarah West, Director of External Affairs
Sarah joined Hospice UK in 2019 from Plan International UK, where she was Interim Director of Communications, Campaigns and UK Programmes.
Prior to this Sarah was Director of Communications at the World Cancer Research Fund, and has worked on campaigns for HIV/Aids awareness, disability, the environment, health, international development and peacebuilding.
