Thanks to our partnership with St. James’s Place Foundation, Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice in Huddersfield was awarded a grant of £30,000 for a project to improve care and support to newborn babies with palliative care needs and their families.
How the grant is making a difference
Text
A new Neonatal Coordinator worked with local hospital neonatal units, in order to better support families in hospital and to extend the options and choices available to them. Thanks to the project, many families have been able to access a variety of hospice based and hospice at home services, including sibling support and bereavement support. This made a real difference to families at an enormously challenging time.
We are very grateful to St James's Place Foundation for enabling this exemplar work to begin and subsequently to take off (now supported by funding from BBC Children in Need). We will continue to further develop the service and to make it available to increasing numbers of families, when it matters most. Many thanks!
