Matthew Brindley, Policy and Advocacy Manager for Wales said: "We’re pleased to see the Welsh Government provide £30m for a much-needed investment in community care, particularly community specialist palliative care.
"Last year we called for overnight and weekend palliative and end-of-life care to be prioritised, and this proposal to move towards 24/7 community nursing and strengthen palliative care is encouraging. To make this work, the Welsh Government must prioritise workforce planning to make sure there are enough nurses with the training and skills to support people at the end of life.
"Despite this welcome investment, hospices urgently need further support to weather the cost of living crisis. We hope this will be made a priority in the next funding review of end-of-life care due to complete in January 2024."
